The Minority Business Accelerator (MBA) program was created for existing companies that have been in business for a while and want to grow and scale. This eight-week curriculum is based on growth methodologies and related business concepts. The MBA program takes a deep dive into the individual companies’ marketing, sales, and financial data to uncover hidden treasures or obstacles to further growth. The participants learn from subject matter experts on a variety of topics, again taking a more in-depth look at the topics covered in the MBA program. The bulk of the content provides business skills training to improve capacity for growth and expansion, and a component of the content covers financial readiness to improve access to capital. Companies present their homework and receive feedback from their instructors and classmates. The MBA program pays modest stipends to those selected, typically 6-8 companies, to encourage participation. The MBA program is one night a week from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and at the end, participants pitch for possible funding to invest in their businesses.
